POKOTABI / Kanoumen
韓王麺
At Ayase's Korean dining spot Kanoumen, diners can customize noodle bowls like gomtang and yukgaejang or share izakaya-style bites such as salted offal late into the night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Distinctive, deeply brewed broths take center stage at Kanoumen, from milky-white gomtang noodle soup rich with simmering bone stock to yukgaejang noodle soup laced with a balanced chili kick. The noodles themselves can be tailored to personal preference, with options including thick Korean noodles, thin Korean noodles, and classic Chinese-style noodles. Pairing a hearty broth with thicker strands or a lighter soup with thin noodles allows for satisfying customization. The menu also extends to doenjang noodles, mantou noodles, and kimchi noodles, each delivering a comforting meal on its own.
While waiting for noodles or settling in for drinks, an extensive selection of izakaya-style small plates comes into its own. The kitchen turns out grilled specialties such as salted beef tongue, seasoned offal, and stir-fried liver with garlic chives, alongside staples like changja and assorted kimchi platters. Guests often order house recommendations like negitoro or Korean-style stew with draft beer or whisky highballs, before rounding off the evening with a bowl of noodles or sizzling stone-pot bibimbap.
Kanoumen operates from 17:00 until 5:00 the following morning from Tuesday through Sunday, making it equally welcoming for an evening drink after work or a late-night supper. Inside, table seating accommodates relaxed visits, whether dining solo or gathering over drinks with a group.
